Katherine (Kathy) Sierra,
Vice President for Sustainable Development,
has overall responsibility for the Bank’s strategies and
operations in agriculture and rural development, energy,
the environment and natural resource management, social
development, transport, urban policies and water.
|
An urban planning specialist, Katherine joined the World Bank in 1978 and has worked principally in Latin America and East Asia, holding increasingly senior positions in operational units. She served as Vice President, Human Resources and Vice President, Infrastructure before assuming her current position.
Ms. Sierra, a U.S. national, holds a Master’s degree in Urban and Regional planning from Harvard University and Bachelor of Arts degrees in Anthropology and Hispanic Civilization from the University of California at Santa Barbara.
