Career Transition Program for Spouses/Partners

This program will guide you through the transition process by helping you to:

  • take stock of personal and professional strengths, values, and skills
  • regain confidence, energy and focus
  • actively pursue your career goals
    Although not required, we highly recommend that you attend the full program.

Based on the transition experiences of spouses/partners of international organizations, this intro helps you to:

Step2—Personality Assessment and Career Transition 2-Day Workshop

Do you want to be more effective in your job search? Are you trying to sound more persuasive while articulating your personality strengths? Do you need a framework to identify what you want to do next? This workshop will raise yourself awareness and help you to build on your strengths and become more aware of your weaknesses.
Day 1: Learning About Your Personality Type
Date: Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2010
Time: 9:30am-3:30pm
Venue: The World Bank
Prerequisite: Attend pre-assessment seminar and complete the MBTI questionnaire in advance.
Options are: Jan. 20 at 10am; Jan. 27 at 10am; or Jan. 28 at 3pm. Strong Interest Inventory shoud be taken online.

Day 1 helps you to recognize how personality type contributes to making career decisions and managing the job search. You will receive your own personality type report; verify your "best fit" type through explanation, activities and feedback.

Day 2: Using Personality Strengths for Success
Date: Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2010

Prerequisite: You must have attended the Day 1 workshop

Part 2 applies the knowledge of personality types to practicalities of the job search. You will understand how the job search can be different for different personality types and learn how to build on your strengths and compensate for the weaknesses. We will define transition process as a change of mind set, provide an in-depth explanation and tools to deal with the transition process and apply the approach to the job search.

Step 3—Group Coaching sessions

Prerequisite: It is highly recommended that you have completed the Personality Assessment and Career Transition workshop.

Small group coaching builds upon learning gained in the workshop and provides an individual approach, as well as support and learning from the others in the group. Group coaching is a very powerful tool to put it all together: reach clarity on your career goals, regain confidence, become more resourceful, and translate everything into practical actions. This program consists of five three-hour long sessions every other week for a group of no more than 5 people. For tangible results, you should attend all sessions of your group.
