Muhammad is the founder and executive director of After The Trauma Inc., a support program and resource for domestic-violence victims. She is a consultant with the Office for Victims of Crime and a board member of different organizations. She has become a “National Spokesperson” for domestic violence and has been nominated for many awards for her outstanding courage and outreach on behalf of victims and survivors.

The Info Shop will conduct a book signing following the event. In Scared Silent, Mildred shares her personal story to show how domestic violence devastates entire families, including the children, and hopes that what she reveals will give new insight on this national social ill.
